PERSONALIZED SURGERY

Personalized surgery or PSI (Patient Specific Instruments) is an innovative and increasingly widespread solution. Nowadays it represents one of the most effective supports to the choices and the work of the orthopedic surgeon specialist of joint degeneration pathologies.

Thanks to 3D planning and starting from a three-dimensional model created using CT-Scan images, it is possible to create instruments specifically designed according to the anatomy of the individual patient thus improving the results of long-term prosthetic surgery. The PSI approach allows extreme bone cutting precision and a consequent reduction of prosthetic positioning errors, which is housed in the right seat and perfectly balanced.

The other advantages to consider are the following:

• Correct ligaments balancing;
• Reduced surgical incision;
• Shorter surgical times.

Using personalized surgery it is possible to minimize the manual error, as the PSI pre-formed disposable guides allow to reproduce on the patient what the surgeon has planned precisely on the browser together with the company’s programming technicians before entering the operating room.

PSI technology is now mature and appreciated all over the world. In addition to the above mentioned advantages, it allows to appreciate a dynamic planning based on the actual anatomy of individual patients, thus taking into account joint kinematics and creating a very accurate alignment.
