3D printed Patient Specific tools

Developed together with surgeons of great clinical experience, the DYO 3D Printed Patient Specific instruments system by Permedica Orthopaedics offers the possibility to create custom made guides for total knee arthroplasty.

This system of patient-specific guides, i.e. specifically designed for the anatomy of the individual patient, allows the surgeon to faithfull reproduce the pre-operative planning with an accurate positioning of the prosthetic components, as well as a series of further potential advantages.

  • Accuracy in the positioning of the prosthetic components
  • Conservative surgery preserving the medullary canal
  • Optimized surgical workflow and cost effective procedure
  • Online 3D preoperative planning

WORKFLOW

1. CT SCAN
The patient undergoes a computerized axial tomography (CT) scan.

2. IMAGES ARE LOADED ON THE WEBSITE
The surgeon uploads CT images to the Permedica online portal.

3. EVALUATION OF IMAGE QUALITY
The images are analyzed to assess their compatibility with quality standards.

4. 3D RECONSTRUCTION
Starting from the images, the 3D models of the tibia and femur are constructed and a first pre-operative planning proposal for the surgeon is made. The surgeon has the option to change the planning from the online platform at any time.

5. PLANNING VALIDATION AND GUIDES PRODUCTION
Once satisfied with the 3D planning, the surgeon validates the planning.
At this point the production of the guides (femoral and tibial) can begin.

6. GUIDES DELIVERY
As soon as they are ready, the guides are packaged, sterilized and sent to the hospital ready for use.
